Remove top cap of lamp with a flathead screwdriver. Get a small metal mesh strainer from the dollar store, remove its handle with pliers. Fit it on the top of the lamp with mesh inside the lamp and metal rim on top, some adjustment might be required with pliers. Cover holes in the cylinder below where there is heat loss with folded aluminium foil. The whole process took under ten minutes.
Very effective if you use a smaller size pan (not the full-size pictured) and cost-effective and convenient if you use diesel vs kerosene with a little rubbing alcohol mixed in. Gives light and cooks at the same time, also due to metal mesh it's a great little space heater.
