This is a small 2 person tent that costs under $25 (cost me $16 on ebay) . Inside a house with an extra tarp/blanket covering and some reflectix, it will keep a person alive during extreme cold just with body heat alone. A small 12v space heater or even a tealight candle heater will warm it up to very comfortable levels. Also good as a power/electric bill saving tool
The Siberian nomads (I forget the name). Do something similar. They build a mini tent out of animal skins inside their yurt. A little oil fat candle keeps it at around 70 degrees.

I like this idea. Many people already have camping tents (at least I do), so this is a cinch.
